The UpSki.com website is undergoing revision. For current information check out our blog at www.UpSkiing.com.
The Colorado Avalanche Information Center has been focused on letting us know about the underlying dangers in the snowpack this year.
John Stanford is having great success with his Photography equipment VertexPhoto.com and I have been keeping it to the lower aspects. This little break has given us time to work on the "lightweight" version of the UpSki. We have done some weighting and we would like to put the complete version of the UpSki on a diet and trim it down to less then half weight. The UpSkiers are in two groups it seems. One group drives to the Mountain Pass or large hillside, gets out and carry's the 12.5 pound UpSki, beacon, shovel, water, etc. out a few yards and launches. The other group puts their UpSki into their back country pack along with skins, beacon, water, extra shell, and other BC needs. They then may skin up to a distant bowl for two hours before ripping across the country with their UpSki. For them, and they is us these days, we want to trim the weight to 6 pounds.
The Other Project is a complete re-do on the UpSki website. This page and some of it's links will stay up but the current discussion about all things UpSki has moved to the blog on www.UpSkiing.com. Here John Stanford will join me as we review topics including canopy repair, new designs and look over some of the innovations found in Kite Skiing and Boarding.
