MONDAY UPDATE 12/6 FROM DEBRA, BARB & PAT
Hello all from Pat, Cousin Barb and Deb,

We've just spent a few minutes reading notes aloud from some of you to Pat. It's always fun to hear from you. Pat laughed when she heard that Dan thinks he's her favorite brother. Now he owes Pat a back scratch!!!

Busy day in classes today. Her project group helped the staff prepare for a big holiday feast coming up on Friday. Friends and family are welcome, by the way, they'll be serving a buffet from noon to 3 p.m. Check out the attractively wrapped silverware! On Wednesday Pat will be Christmas shopping with the group, send in your wish lists now. We're going to ask Larry for lots of money!

Bye for now, we're off to speech therapy! Love, all 3 of us.

MONDAY UPDATE 12/6 FROM KAY

Here are a few things I was able to pick up tonight while talking to Pat.

How did speech class go today? What words did you work on? "I worked fine on my lessons."

Did Barb Carson Slegel go with you to your classes today? "Yes." What do you think she liked best? "I don't know." (So Barb, what did you like best, other than being with Pat?)

Pat consistently uses the German word freunden when she speaks of friends. "I'm thinking of freunden Stick and Mole." I know she loved having [real names Patty and Nancy, I believe] her life-long freunden visit.

"And then you . . . " German word salad. "He knows . . . "German and English word salad.

This communications skill may click suddenly and the verbal dam will burst, or it may be so gradual that those who speak with her every day will not notice the improvements. I think a six word sentence right now is very exciting!

I hope all of you PLSers are having a joyous December! Love, Kay
