UPDATE FOR TUESDAY 11/9 FROM LAURA

I

Hello All! Pat had another great day today! I came just in time to eat some of the spaghetti that she helped to make in therapy. Pat cut all of the tomatoes, and very well I might add. There was a group of about six patients and there therapists that put the meal together, and it was great! The cooking class is every two weeks, and the group gets to decide what they want to make for the following class. Once a list of groceries is made, another group of patients takes a field trip to the store to find the ingredients. I think it is a really great idea, and they all have a great time laughing, and working together to make the meal.

Pat took a short nap, and then her neighbor, Richard, came to visit. Pat had a lot to say, and the words are coming out a little better every day. I, of course feel like I understand a lot of what she says, but sometimes you just can't tell. Sometimes as she says a word her face will crinkle, and she knows that it did not come out right, but we just assure her that they will come in time.

In speech therapy today Pat told Jennifer what day it was, and went through the days of the week with no problem. The numbers came a lot easier then the letters, but they are getting better. Tomorrow for speech we are going on a field trip to the Country Buffet to have lunch. There is a group of about nine patients, and there family members are also welcome. I am very excited to see how Pat likes it. She has been so excited to go!

After her classes we had a surprise dentist visit. We made our way to office across the street, and waited for a long time. Pat just sat, and read the news paper. Dr. Zimmer was very nice! They cleaned her teeth, and checked for cavities, but found none. She did a great job, and as soon as they took off that bib, she sat right up, and headed for her chair.

For dinner tonight they had complimentary BBQ brought in. It was donated by the Brothers BBQ in Denver. The place is owned by two young brothers from I believe Norway. They are very nice guys! Pat thanked them, as did I. For those of you that are interested, they are located on Leetsdale, and Monaco in Denver, and the food is the best!

More later, Laura

I wanted to say a quick hello to Patty Schleef! I hope that all is well in your neck of the woods! Love Ya
