Hello, Pat had a good week-end. Pat continues to improve daily. She is still having trouble finding the words. I can only report about Sunday. Larry stayed over on Saturday and reports that Pat had a good night's rest. Laura was in Saturday am. Laura has been an incredible advocate for Pat at Craig. Pat is lucky to have such a compassionate soon to be family member. Pat had a pretty sleepy morning. She was very lively this afternoon. We had many conversations about life. Pat had many questions today, she had many more words than Friday. I really tried to understand her thoughts, I do believe that we moved forward. Pat is smiling and saying people's names when we looked at pictures. I don't know all of the family members so she had to tell me who everyone is. She does have some trouble but I think that she has a remarkable memory, and that memory is starting to surface into words. They continue to keep Pat on a rigid schedule. This is all about the recovery process and the need to learn how to take care of herself. Many of these tasks we take for granted as every day routines, Pat did great with routines today. She fed herself at all of her meals, and mostly participated in other tasks when prompted. The new doctor's orders have Pat eating in a quiet area, they want to limit the stimulation. I can report that it worked today. The aids are very creative, finding unused family room's etc. Pat was very relaxed and happy today. Pat is already very well liked on the 2nd floor, and is starting to make new friends as she cruises around the floor. We went outside today in Pat's new Phenix sweat suit, very stylish and warm. Pat was not interested in the snow at all. She wanted to soak in the afternoon ray's. We did get stuck in the snow a few times, the wheel chairs rear wheels are small and fill up with snow easily. This didn't seem to bother her, we would get unstuck together. I like most of you, would love for Pat's recovery to kick into hyper drive. We need to be patient and respect the doctor's orders for limited stimulation. Good thoughts for Pat and Larry, Betsy |
