Hi, I’m Paul Rohde. I worked with Pat in the Eyewear Division at Bausch & Lomb. I live north of Denver and had a chance to visit her for the first time on Tuesday. When I arrived she was just waking up from her afternoon nap. After a big yawn she looked at me and her eyes got real big. She certainly recognized me and gave me a big smile. I swear she said my name. I was really glad to see how well she looked. One of the aids came in and helped Pat put on her shoes and got her into her wheel chair. So off we went down the hall and up the covered walkway to where it was sunny. Pat proceeded to tell me all that had happened and how she was feeling. Unfortunately it was in her own language that I don't quite understand. But she sure tried to communicate. I could see the frustration in her face, and assured her she was doing great, and that her speech would come back soon. She is such a great lady and I believe is very strong willed. Her great physical shape has really helped in her rapid recovery. As we chatted, I saw Larry and his sister coming towards us. Larry and I talked shop for a little bit and got caught up on what's happening in the business world. Then it was time to focus on Pat again. Some of Pat's friends from Frisco, Susie and Bobby also stopped for a while and all of us went outside for a little fresh air. Pat really seemed to enjoy that. We stayed outside for quite a while until the sun started getting low in the sky and the fall air got cool. So back inside we went to say our good byes, so Pat and Larry could enjoy a quite dinner together. I'm really glad that I stopped to visit. Just seeing Pat was an inspiration to me and reinforced in my mind the strength of the human spirit. While we all seem to have our trials and tribulations in coping with our daily lives, one just has to look at Pat to realize how fortunate we all are. Her inner strength and bright smile tells me she will be back with us better than ever. Our job is to keep her in our thoughts and prayers and give her all the support and encouragement we can. I plan on visiting Pat again real soon and hope that you can also be inspired by... Paul
