The best news is the little shadow on the CAT scan is all but gone. So what might have been some type of permanent physical damage doesn't seem to be there anymore. Thus once again, no reason not to expect 100% recovery.

We're in the new room in a unit full of regular people. So that's good news -- she's well enough not to need constant attention. It seems different to be in a room without all the monitors and equipment. On the other hand, it does have a private bath and a reclining visitor chair, which makes life easier for Larry and me.

Channel 13 Fox news in Salt Lake came by yesterday for an interview. As it turns out the reporter who came was actually the locally well known anchor Hope Woodside, who told us that in her youth she fell and hurt her head and was considered dead on arrival at the hospital. After a long recovery, she is fine and you would not have ever guessed it by looking at her.

Larry told the story of the tornado and getting Pat to the hospital. I
talked about the email network and webpage as a way to get everyone involved in the recovery process. We both talked about Pat's spirit. They said it would be shown locally at 9:00 pm and might be sent to the satellite so other stations will be able to air it if they want. We'll be sure to get a tape of the show.

One of Pat's new neighbors is a young woman also injured in the tornado with her back broken in three places. She was just taking a walk in one of the residential neighborhoods that got hit. Unfortunately, she was brought to the closest hospital (the one that was too full for Pat) and contracted staph and strept infections and wasn't able to get the level of treatment that she needed, so they had to transfer her here. I think there has been mention in previous updates about how lucky Pat was to have been brought here
immediately, and we've seen some more evidence of that.

We provided a semi-lavish spread of appetizers from the Bombay House to the night shift last night, both to introduce Pat to the new crew and to show some appreciation for the old crew. The unit smelled pretty good for a while there.

Later, Dan
