| Thursday AM 9/9/99 I just talked to Pat's nurse. Not a lot of changes. They've done some tests to make sure her heart wasn't damaged by the stress of the lung infections. The first round was OK, and they're going to do another echo cardiogram today. No action yet on the fluid around the heart. Her eyes are open and she follows commands (squeeze my hand, blink your eyes, etc.), and breathing better than she was a few days ago. I can't provide any sights and sounds anymore, unless you want to hear about how my wife and I are painting our kitchen today. I call the hospital again this afternoon and send out another brief update. DanWednesday Evening I'm back home safe and sound. I called and spoke with Larry and Jeff the nurse. Pat continues to be better as I found her this morning, breathing better, heart rate better, active and so forth. However, they now found some sort of fluid around her heart. What next? They're checking into it to find if it is some sort of infection or what. That's all I know. Larry's plan was to learn how to send email and do the updates, but he's still pedaling up that learning curve. By the way, Larry is doing fine. He's in good spirits and taking time to do a bit of golfing and so forth. He's tired and it doesn't take him long to fall asleep once he lies down for a nap. But I think he's quite remarkable for having lived thru a tornado and saved Pat's life. And he has kept selling sunglasses to the hospital staff, to golfers he meets, etc. All for now, Dan |
