WEDNESDAY 9/29 UPDATE FROM ALLEN ARMS & LARRY
TUESDAY 9/28 UPDATE FROM K.K.
WEDNESDAY UPDATE!! From Allen Arms
Larry asked me to relay the day's events to you all, and thank you all again.

Pat Mcschmidt had an incredible day today. Upon my arrival for a visit, she had rolled herself onto her side for the first time! I was greeted with a very large smile, and an outstretched hand. It was
obvious to me that she knew she was closer to home, and her energy level was off the scale. She struggled to pull herself up to a seated position, and with a little help from Larry, she was upright, with eyes wide and sparkling. Several grins at Oley and Leena references, and several attempts to speak! Pat worked with a team of physical therapists for an hour or so, with a look of determination, and an "Oh yeah, watch this" attitude. The nurse from Craig Rehab stopped by for a visit, and met with Larry. Craig is ready for Aunt Pat when Swedish releases her to them.

Larry is in good spirits, and stayed Tuesday night in his own home in Summit County. That must have felt great! He is still at Pat's side constantly, helping her, and encouraging her.

The therapist team, and Larry agreed that visitation should be kept to a minimum for a while, as Pat looses focus on her task when there are a lot of people around, and too much going on. It is understandable that we would all like to visit, and we should, but perhaps a good idea to check with Larry first, at least for a while. Pat is currently in room 4270. Swedish hospital phone is
303-788-5000.

Your roving reporter, Uncle Al

Oh my what a wonderful day it has been! Aunt Pat is finally in Colorado and I got to hold her hand and look into those big blue eyes. Life is good! KK here with my first update. Larry and Pat made it safely to Swedish hospital after a trying morning. Pat needed a new feeding tube down the nose, a most unpleasant experience. But the morning progressed on a better note with two interviews for the Deseret Salt Lake Newspaper and another publication. Word is out they made the front page of the paper. Then is was time to get Pat packed up for the ambulance ride to the airport. Larry and Kim Huffman followed the ambulance to the airport and noticed Pat kicking her legs into the air with joy to be heading home to Colorado! Once at the airport Pat was loaded into her private Lear Jet. It was a sad good-bye to all the Salt Lake friends, but time to get home!

Luckily the first snow of the year in Denver did not delay the flight and Pat made it safely to her new room at Swedish.

Pat continues to make improvements even after what we thought would be a tiring day for her. Larry says she is turning her head across the center line to the right farther than ever before and lifting her head up off the pillow more than before. She is also moving her legs across to the right. These are all small, but significant improvements. Its like she has been invigorated by getting to come home! When Steve and I walked in the room and got to hold her hands she gave a big smile and looked right at us. I just know she was as happy to see us as we were to see her. Larry said she spent a lot of the trip looking around, checking out the new surroundings on the plane and again in the new hospital room.

Larry is Pat's vigilant champion, making sure all was well before we left the hospital. Swedish has a sitter program, so Pat has a nurse sitting with her in the room at all times. This is a great relief to Larry. And such a marvelous program. Good feelings all around, are so important as the University team had become so familiar, the move was a success.

I think you can check out the newspaper on the internet at www.desnews.com

I'm out with a smile as, my friend Pat is back home!

Larry, I just watched the 9:00 FOX news with Hope Woodside and she did it again...great coverage on Pat and quite a good pose by yourself as well. Very well spoken distinguished look going on the news. Maybe you should run for Utah Senate...a cold Warsteiner in every reefer...oh well, good coverage anyway.

Also, you two are on the front of the Deseret News so I forwarded that to you as well. Front page four color... nice work, I think you're really gonna like it. www.desnews.com the front page 9-28-99
