What Makes it An UpSki?

Using normal skiing technique and conventional alpine or telemark skis, the UpSkier sails across or up snow fields at speeds which may double that of the wind. Directional turns are made with ease, the sensation is almost identical to that achieved while downhill skiing. The canopy, which weighs 14 pounds, can instantly open (collapse) and close (inflate) by a patented venting system (US Patent 4,722,497).
