UpSki - Wind Mountaineering

UpSki - The Sport

Where to UpSki?

"Now this is the perfect sport for the sailor who also skis, especially if you are from the mid-west. Your lake is frozen so you can't sail. Your state is flat so you can't ski. Now you can do both all winter long."

Gary Jobson, SAILING QUARTERLY VIDEO MAGAZINE

Powder! Mille Lacs, Minnesota

Alpine UpSki is the sport of skiing up mountains which have ranged in size from rolling knolls in Scotland to Chilean Volcanoes and the high alpine peaks of the Rocky Mountains. The original intention of skiing up as a method of getting to the top for the ski down has given away to the desire to simply spend the day "wind mountaineering." Flat Terrain UpSki is practiced on the high plateau of Norway, the frozen lakes of Minnesota, Wisconsin, New York and Canada. This version of wind skiing provides the feel of skiing without the need for big mountains. Miles of deep powder turns in Minnesota? Yep!
