UpSki By-The-Numbers!

"Millions of acres of windswept flats and frozen lakes offer high speed cruises, no lift ticket required."

ESPN SKI WORLD

Jenny Cohrs, 20 miles of powder, two hours

In winds of fifteen MPH, twenty-five miles have been crossed in one hour and thirty minutes. Speeds of better than sixty MPH have been reached on the flats. UpSkiers have gone thirty MPH up thirty-five degree slopes. Winds of over 70 MPH at 12,000 feet above sea level have been UpSkied. On the 1990 Norwegian Trans Antarctic Expedition conventional UpSki canopies pulled both 200 pound sleds and expedition members. At one point the Norwegian team team crossed 113 miles in only two days! The Explorer Custom System, built in the US, retails at $2,399.00. The majority of canopies built have been sold to markets in Scandinavia and Scotland. The UpSki race event in Telemark, Norway usually consists of some forty competitors from the scandinavian region.
